The Dracaena family are native to Africa, Central America and Asia. The Dracaena family are native to Africa, Central America and Asia. They form part of the asparagus family and they get their name from the Greek dracaena meaning female dragon, due to the red resin in its stems that is said to resemble dragon blood. This variety of Dragon Tree originated in the tropics of Africa. The striped dracaena has very distinctive blade like foliage with bright green leaves and white stripes. 

Light conditions: indirect, bright light (for example not on a windowsill that gets direct sun at any point in the day), Direct sunlight will damage the leaves.
Neediness: This is a low maintenance houseplant. It will benefit from occasionally dusting the leaves to unblock its pores. If the environment has low humidity this plant will benefit from regular misting. The foliage on this variety is more easily damaged than other Dracaena so best placed in a low traffic location.
Watering: Water regularly during the spring and summer months, reduce during the winter. Wait until the top layer of soil is dry before watering gently, avoid over-watering as this can cause root rot. Leaves may discolour if overwatered, if underwatered they may appear to curl at the edges.
Ideal location: bedrooms, living rooms, studies, offices, bathrooms and kitchens
Rate of growth: slow growing. To encourage a fuller plant it can be pruned during Autumn. Dracaena do naturally shed their lower leaves which turn yellow and fall off as the plant grows.
Temperature: keep at a normal room temperature. Do not let temperature drop below 13c.

Cycas Palm Revoluta 45cm Plant

Although commonly known as the Sago Palm, Cycas revoluta is not a palm at all despite appearances. It is actually a Cycad and dates back to pre-historic time. However, just like a palm it is known for its attractive feathery fronds.
The trunk of the Cycas is known as a caudex. Stiff, shiny fronds grow in a rosette from the trunk, initially in an upright manner before arching gracefully as they age. New leaves emerge all at once rather than developing continuously. This periodic flush of new growth is known as a 'break'. New leaves are fragile, so avoid disturbing the plant at this time. However, if the leaves start to lean towards a source of light, turn the plant slightly each day until they harden.
Cycas revoluta is a majestic option for a house or office plant and will provide an ancient and exotic focal point.

Banana Plants provide wonderful foliage as house plants. In most cases, it is the Dwarf varieties that are best suited to being grown indoors, such as this Dwarf Cavendish.

Light: Bright, indirect light. Will tolerate some shade; however, this will slow its growth rate and it may lose its stripes. Avoid direct sunlight.

Cacti are members of the Cactacae family, there are believed to be around 1800 different species. Almost all are native to the Americas. Most cacti live in habitats where there is some level of drought and most are succulents meaning they have developed fleshy parts to store water, in a cactus this is usually the stem. In their natural environment the tallest of cactus can reach 20m tall. These mini cacti make a great gift and are perfect for new plant parents!
Light conditions: position in bright light. Reduce to bright indirect light during the winter months.
Neediness: Easy to care for but remember that your cactus needs dusting to unblock its pores, helping it to breathe. Try a make-up brush or an artist’s brush to remove cobwebs and dust
Watering: contrary to what new cactus keepers think, cactus require regular watering, at least during the summer. Only water again when the soil has dried out. Over the cooler months they may need only light watering every 3 to 4 weeks.

Caring for Your Air Plant

Tillandsias grow differently than most other house plants, so they can be confusing to the beginner. They are really very hardy, and require much less attention than other house plants. The following simplifies the instruction but you can scroll down for much more specific information.

• Provided the atmosphere is not too dry they can survive with water misting and the occasional bath.
• Give them bright, filtered light.
• Protect them from frosts.
• If you are growing them indoors and the air is dry, you will need (at minimum) to submerge the plant in water for 2-3 hours about every two weeks.
• In a shaded-house or unheated home, you can use a soaking mist once or twice a week in summer, once a month in cooler weather.
